How much will Obamacare Raise Your Insurance Premium?

James Hall
BATR
30 October 2013

"No one can reasonably deny that the major Insurance Companies were the driving force behind the writing of the Affordable Care Act legislation. "The health care industry spent nearly $500 million lobbying for health care issues in 2012, and $243 million so far in 2013.""

"Over the last 12 months, shares of the top five publicly traded health insurance companies — Aetna, WellPoint, UnitedHealth Group, Humana and Cigna — have increased by an average of 32 percent, while the Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index has risen by just 24 percent." The New York Times 26 October 2013

"Either the Obamacare system itself collapses under its own weight, or the U.S. economy falls apart because of the extreme burden being hoisted on those who are responsible for paying the bill.

Either way, we’re looking at an almost instantaneous collapse of one or the other." SHTF Plan 24 October 2013

"Is Obamacare hurting the health insurers, or is its roll-out the problem? That is for others to debate. It is possible that it can rebound following a quick fix to the Website and a sharp pickup in signups for health-care plans. Short of that happening, the charts say that investors should be avoiding the group like the plague." Barrons 29 October 2013 (after insurance stocks began to lose their edge)

"The document, if adopted by the European Parliament in its current form, would -- among other problems -- establish a right to a freedom from hurt feelings at the expense of the freedom of speech and expression. In practical terms, critics say, the highly subjective definition of terms and concepts such as "tolerance," "discrimination," "vulnerable," and "disadvantaged," amounts to a legal straitjacket that would encourage frivolous litigation aimed at silencing individuals and groups, or at finding circumlocutions that appear to avoid violating these principles."

Additionally, so-called "abortion tainted vaccines" cultivated on transformed fetal cells (293, PER.C6) are in the developmental pipeline, including: "flu, Respiratory Syncytial and parainfluenza viruses, HIV, West Nile virus, Ebola, Marburg and Lassa, hepatitis B and C, foot and mouth disease, Japanese encephalitis, dengue, tuberculosis, anthrax, plague, tetanus and malaria.""

COMMENTARY
As I meander about in many waters, I find I begin to swim in their rising tide.

Not such an odd thing, to be sureI perhaps would not be swimming here, after all, were I not somehow a member of the family, so to speak. I post the above (and this commentary), however, because I did something I rarely do, when I read it: comment therein.

Opens up a whole can of worms (especially since a native modesty keeps me from tooting my own horn, which, quite frankly would have been the more sensible item: I blog, and do so for a reason). It is not done, however, and glad I am for it. (Some comment communities do link back to blogs, for bloggers; I do not know why Disqus does not, or how I got caught up in registering for it. Very complicated out there now, as we all know!)

Comments seem to bear a close resemblance to road rage: they happen from impassioned and often lost to the moment fury, without forethought or restraint.

Seethe out onto a page and ricochet, then, from individual to individual.

The title of this post comes from a paraphrase of a comment someone made to my attempt at doing what I do here: warn from clearer vision. It is what we do, and must do, within a community. Not a lording over, but a humble necessity to hand on what we see, as much as listen when others see.

That is perhaps the defining point of humanity, and why community is what defines the Body of Christ.

I struggle always to at least get 'out there' what is seething now in many places, and impacts us all. Whether factual or not, if it is the pulse of a nation, it needs to be known by all. (And yes, I do avoid most liberal thought. Enough of that out there: my focus is on the turmoil stirring on the home court.)

Readers will remember that I edge often toward leaving this blog, for many reasons, one of which is the deception of the present day: who can we believe now? Will we only be able to believe what we can see with our own eyes. Too many have agendas, and use whatever they can find as a weapon against an enemy.

Christ did not do that. He spoke only Truth. No agenda.

For those many of us who are called to be His own, that must be the road we hew here through the boulders. We may fail, due to another's lack of restraint (or our own), but always, to get up and continue, maybe only the few feet higher up this mountain, our own eyes blinded perhaps, here and there, by the night about us, as much as the broken dust which boulder becomes as you pummel it into sliver, so that you can work your way through...

Yet that rising up again to shatter more stone remains the necessity.

To say that we are not in a troubled time is to engage in mere dream. To want to not be a part of itto want, always, to curl up before the evening news, trusting what vision of America it sets out, lulling to a quiet slumberwhy that is a given. But that place of curled in safety before a particular vision of America is not the way of it now, and would that it were that all knew it.

The prophet Amos spoke of times of great travail, and warned that the prudent stay silent in the midst of them (Amos 5:13). But again, we who are called to be the Body of Christ certainly know that safety may buy a lifetime, but it forfeits life (Mk 8:35-37).

However, it has long been a tactic of war to deceive, and freely, and sow discontent and confusion thereby. Many warn, and frequently, against this blogger (or independent journalist) or that, sowing multiple seeds of confusion. Too, within the Church people cordon themselves off to 'of this denomination' or that one: they render themselves incapable of hearing anything outside their 'set.'

Dangerous place to be these days, where once, staying only within your set was a certain place of safety. But Truth is not the cache of only one set, and many communities these days want to believe it is: wall yourself in and all others out, and you will lose very necessary items of wisdom another set might contain...

But many there are to whom the very term 'dangerous' seems made of rabble-rousers and...

Those not in our set...

That same Christ who spoke Truth-only warned that we must be as innocent as doves yet as wily as serpents. And may have been known to lambaste His own against their naïvetéI will leave that in as a possibility, although I do not have the time to prove it at the present moment.

Wily as serpents is not subterfuge, but it is as close to 'agenda' as I wish to be set. Which is to say. Where we are set in as 'wily as serpents' is the proper place to be—and always, in the very moment of being so, tempered by that innocence of a dove.

Many quite rightly fear that Mr. Obama, elected (so they say) leader of our great land, is attempting to provoke the citizens of this land to rebellion, so that martial law (and force) may be set out over this land.

Yet a great many are still not so very much aware that any of this is happening.

My reply of this morning that, fortunately or otherwise, I could not get posted at the site above (which was edging toward one thousand comments when I checked the site last) follows:

A keen recognition of Rev. 13:4 (which I did not address here but, thankfully, see someone else did) doesn't mean that we should not fight against tyranny or struggle through to a defense of freedom...
I just recognize the necessity for utmost cautionand the necessity for a total awareness of the capability of the enemy (theoretically speaking, to be sure) against whom all who are free inevitably war...
And recognize that Scripture tells us that one day an enemy will arise who will 'overpower the saints.'
Rolling over, however, and conceding defeat (when that enemy is come) is not the way of the faith. Just the inevitable, after we have done all that we can do. Whether we are now at that timewell, too early to tell yet.
That we are in the hands of a tyrant, howeverwell, in the land of the once-free, I don't think that cannot be said. If you doubt, however, the danger in having said so (and been heard)Google Tom Francois.
The Resistance was the way of it in occupied lands. A ready sense of 'occupied' is already the way of it here: don't take NSA surveillance lightly!
To suppose that military battle against a force that, at the very least, could destroy an entire city with a nuclear bomb before you have even got a cry to arms out into that cityto suppose that battle might be possible remains the stuff of nursery school bravado. We are not playing with toy soldiers.
Yes, the British seemed vastly more 'prepared' than the Colonists! Who learned to fight dirty!
But the two opponents fought with equal weaponry.
You didn't have guns against atomic bombs.
You didn't have tanks against depleted uranium.
They control the Internet, my dears, for all the 'freedom' we seem to enjoy in this country. How do you think China (and other countries) can restrict usage to whatever they deem permissible?
And, again, that is only a few illustrations of why I keep warningwhat is happening now has never happened before. Enemies have always fought each other (up until WWII) with equal arms.
Even the British against the Colonists. Numbers do not change that equality. The weaponry each side used was the same. Guns against guns. Warship against warship. Same weapon potential.
That is all I have been saying. A clear knowledge of what your enemy can do is the first step in any onslaught against that enemy. If you are a patriot, you are already marked as a potential enemy of America...
The pulse of this nation rises up, yes, against a tyrant. That is a given.
But to discuss online anything beyond mere theories of war is, again, nursery school bravado. In this day, that is a dangerous matter.
A good time to (if I may) keep our noses clean. Or at the least, our hearts...
Wary, always, is wise. After all, we are merely discussing theories of war, here...
Readers should note that Tom Francois got in trouble because of the size of his followers. A great many out there are banging pots and pans as if the call of a drum to war. But not so many have the readership (as nearly as I can determine) that made Francois a danger. Other sites, certainly, that are independent journalists, have a larger readership.

But Francois was (and is) merely an individual, and less likely, perhaps, to have had a ready attorney to take on those who came knocking at his door?

Far easier to 'make an example to others,' in such case, who might likewise not govern their tongues so wisely.

Something brews now, however, and yes, it slouches toward Bethlehem to be born...

[Quote by W. B. Yeats, The Second Coming (1919).

I am at present moment reading Charlotte Grey again - fourth time, maybe? It is a novel I cherish, for many reasons. However, several of the novels of Sebastian Faulks are set within the Resistance of World War II, as are those of Alan Furst. Excellent books for an easy slide into at least a semblance or beginning point to understanding we are not playing patty-cake in America right now.

The link which follows "martial law (and force)" is borrowed because the Hebrew word for fortresses has confused many scholars. It is curious to me that it is a word closely related to a word for force.

And sounds terribly close to something we may be seeing unfold now, set firmly within, as noted, military might such as even St. John could never have adequately described.

Whether the prophecies of Daniel or St. John refer to our day, again, remains to be seen. Many there are, including resident blogger, however, who keep a cautious eye on that possibility. Ed]

COMMENTARY
Revelation 13:4 illustrates a particular element of the last hour by a Beast, of whom people will say in wonder, Who is like the Beast?

And, Who can make war against him?

It is that last quote that must be emphasized. So many of our patriots, as I noted elsewhere, tend to think in Civil War terms. Equal against equal assailant.

In the last hour, no one will be able to take on the Beast.

While I do not at all wish to suggest that we cannot (should need ever arise) do battle against the forces that oppose all that is holy, the whole of it should be more like the Resistance in WWII and less of this idea that we will engage someone in battle, expecting some degree or another of equal capability.

I am not at all saying that we should go to war. As have noted elsewhere, some things there are that are worth dying for, and when we come to that point, it will be a brave and necessary dying.

However, we are already technologically outnumbered. While the focus of this blog is an attempt to portray portions of what the world is experiencing now that might be the prophecies foretold in Revelation, it dovetails quite easily with what America is experiencing now.

That said...

Exactly how far can a patriot go on foot, once his car is disabled?

And—should we be assuming all those fancy computerized cars had an ulterior motive (as many of us thought long ago)...

And would the same device work on non-computerized cars? (Are boats computerized—or is this device capable of stopping engines regardless?)

ADDENDUM 19 MAY 2016 (with edit for clarity set in 23 May 2016)
Readers are visiting this post of late, but the link to National Journal does not allow access. I have written to the organization in the hope of gaining a perma-link, but National Journal no longer allows any readers except those who are subscribed as members.

I am very sensitive to copyright, which is why this blog always gives links back to the original. As the organization is not able to issue a perma-link, and neither the Wayback Machine nor the Internet Archives have preserved the article, the original will remain out of reach. I leave what is posted here, however, as my own [brief] commentary follows, and enough of a quote from the original article to suggest the tone and topic of what was originally said by the article's author.

Readers who would like to go the extra step to attempt to locate an original copy should contact National Journal to see if they issue reprints to individuals (or whether the membership rule holds there, too) and/or consult their library for help in procuring a back-copy. I do not know how the Library of Congress is conducting such requests now, but suspect that somewhere, a copy of the article can be found.

Due to copyright issues, however, it would not be anything I could set out here. I leave further inquiry, with apologies for the loss of the link, to interested readers.

New Study on Defective Prenatal Genes Healing Themselves

COMMENTARY
I am reblogging this story [the National Journal article] to make a point. It is an article I was not able to finish reading. I well know the stories that so easily beguile young girls and women: many there are; this is only another one.

The keenly wrought emotional impact, set to outweigh any other interpretation but the one set out on the page...

Places there are, and widening, where people are rendering themselves incapable of hearing Truth.

This is one of them.

I am old enough to have not had ultrasound when my babies were conceived. It was available, and even becoming a popular question: is it a boy or a girl?

But still novelty, rather than norm.

I knew then, as I know now, that this new science would open up a Pandora's box of choices that did not need to be set out on the table. It would require answers to questions that did not need to be asked. Yes, many babies are saved via medical intervention gained by peering into the womb at the not-yet-born.

But I do not know that such excuses the way we too readily now allow medical tests to demand choices of who will live and who must die.

With a different heart (or understanding), perhaps this poor woman might have cherished the days God had given her with that child who was not to live.

God is, after all, in charge of who lives and dies.

Not science. Not mothers...

But for the very grieving of her experience, some things can't be said to this woman, just like not telling a parent whose teen-ager has died, and all her organs were donated to others in need...

You don't tell them the truth about how organ donations are done...

what are we becoming?

Why We Should Not Forget Miriam Carey

This Can't Be Happening
14 October 2013

"The casual acceptance of such a publicly visible killing felt amazing. Many of the responses justifying the killing seem hysterical. The hypotheticals raised that she was a danger to others and a threat to the nation’s capital city existed only in the minds of those chasing her or, after the fact, those justifying her killing. From all I have been able to learn, Miriam Carey was a lively young woman who sometimes came off as headstrong who was struggling with some kind of emotional disturbance, possibly triggered by the responsibilities of motherhood."

Even without the reports that Miriam Carey had told an associate that Mr. Obama was talking to her, the assassination (for that is what it was) of Ms. Carey reeks of Obama's America.

It is so very much no longer a place too many of us recognize as America...

"I will not risk the lives of myself and my family in order to be charitable, it just isn’t going to happen. Every morsel of food I give away could keep my kids going for another day. COMMENTARY
Whole lot of people believe that, not only is an end in sight, but it may last a very long while. While I agree with the hard-core reasoning expressed in this post, I don't think the end (if and when it comes) will be long-lived. A great many still have no clue, however, that any of this is seething in the background of all.

It goes without saying, however, that if you prep, keep it a secret.

And make sure your cache is hidden. Think Anne Frank, and Nazi Germany.

"A shocking new Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) reportcirculating in the Kremlin today states that President Barack Obama, while in a rage, ousted four of the United States top ranking military officers after they refused to detonate a nuclear device “in/near” Charleston, South Carolina this past week and, instead, exploded it off the Atlantic Coast."

COMMENTARY
Rumours and projected outcomes based on analysis of both rumour and fact are what compose the elements of most 'conspiracy theories.' I use the term here now as a badge of honour rather than disparagement. I have read them for a very long while over the past years and, although most of what they fear ends up a no-show, they are keeping the word out there, which may have an effect on outcome.

And that is the good news.

Charleston, South Carolina is where the first Civil War began. In that case, however, the Confederate forces fired on the Union occupiers.

For those who follow the ways of that 'nefarious group' that many regard as behind most of everything in the whole world that is going wrong now (and goes by at least three or four different names, depending on those who discuss a matter), symbolism is an element of much moment for at least one of them.

Further than that, the reader must make his own decisions on this one, as always. It is always easy to draw lines between dots; the problem is connecting the ones that give the right picture. For this reader, this one has a most awful connecting. Way too many military officers have been booted out of their positions under the current president. That alone requires notice.

COMMENTARY
I had had a feeling something was a bit too 'off,' even in the virtual world I travel now, replete with what are called 'conspiracy theories' now, but once might have been the stuff of those 'newspapers' you still see on the grocer aisles: Martian landed in my back yard! With photos!

To be sure, where the line divides on what may indeed one day prove to have been 'real' all along is not so easy now. Not when even Congress has been asking why particular groups in the government are buying such huge amounts of ammunition...

Mr. Garrow's name, however (the doctorate is honorary; I won't point out that it may be questionable as well), kept coming up in a number of sites I read on a fairly regular basis, and all with glowing accounts of the man and his biography. Nobel Peace Prize nominee. Renowned author and humanitarian. Founder of The Pink Pagoda, a rescue mission for Chinese female babies.

But covert CIA spy?

Tonight, settling down to listen to a twenty-one minute video interview with the man, Mr. Garrow gave a few details that I knew I could backtrack.

Imagine my surprise when I turned up these!

The last article both incorporates the review posted above and spins that Mr. Garrow is a product of a "Zionist Trail.' The article is noteworthy (if you bypass the rant), however, because it lists exactly what I discovered when I began researching Mr. Garrow. He is quite a presence on conservative sites.

Some of them very well-known conservative sites.

A great many of the alternative journalists speak of Mr. Garrow as an old and respected friend.

Many stories that get a lot of press in the conservative/patriot sites (those I read, but as yet often still must call 'fantastical') circle ad infinitum through other sites, and perhaps gain in stature (believability?) as they roll through the sites—how many of these stories are made of the same sort of looseness with facts?

I've asked this question before, and the answer, unfortunately, is not that we can trust all that we are seeing on the evening news...

But are we left with only what we can see with our own eyes?

Trust is at such a low premium these days.

This, however, if the most cautiously laid-out information on Mr. Garrow should prove true, is most distressing. The ease with which we are led like lambs to slaughter saddens...

As a city girl who does not own a car (or earn enough to prep, even if I weren't aware that whatever I might have saved would be ransacked—whether by the Feds or a violent citizenry), if the SHTF, I am soup.

However, might be anyway: if a nefarious group exists, as many believe it does, and IF that nefarious group operates in quite the manner that many presume it does (i.e., delighting in 'hidden in plain sight' sort of "warnings"), Revolution's choice to have a nuclear bomb hit Atlanta is the sort of hidden in plain sight that gives a wee girl nightmares!

Not to disagree with the many, however, who have been tracking these things. Their fervency alone necessitates a wary eye to America's future: way too many pointers now for a coming disaster, and a multi-faceted one, caving in at too many points to be mere imagination.

[Editor's note. I chose one point from the article to give a sense of the detail. Well worth reading.]

the Episcopal presence in...

...the 43rd Annual Gay Pride Parade in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Episcopal Church rolled by on a float this year.

These photographs were taken near 10th & Piedmont at the last block before the parade ends at Charles Allen Drive, where the paraders spill over into Piedmont Park. The Episcopal Church had a booth in the park, but I did not venture into the park to view it.

The American Anglican Council notes that this is the sixth year that the Diocese of Atlanta has taken part in the parade. All Saints Church has hosted an Integrity Eucharist for twenty-five years. The Council lists other parishes who participate in the Pride activities. I encourage readers to visit their link for greater detail, if interested.

Curiously, the link (from the church site via Google) for the Integrity Eucharist is no longer available.

I do not have details on how long these other parishes within the Diocese have participated in the historic Atlanta weekend. However, this is the third Pride Parade wherein I have tracked the Episcopal presence, and can note that in 2011, clergy from at least one church (which I shall leave unnamed) walked in the parade, one of whom (at least) looked like a very unhappy camper.

Whether the many lining the streets at 10th & Piedmont are indicative of those that lined the entire parade route is not known; the block has a popular gay bar (and is that last block before the parade ends at Piedmont Park) and once housed a gay bookstore and coffee house.

I heard more sirens through the afternoon than is usual for events at the park. The boisterous crowd died down a bit, as evening fell, although I could still hear some sounds of the partying that caroused through the afternoon, where I sat in my living room, a block and a half from 10th (and distinguished from those parties within the neighborhood where I live).

Compared to the 2012 parade, a much larger number of parishes from the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta participated this year.

The Episcopal denomination is not the only Christian church to choose to align itself with gay rights. This year's parade included Catholic, Jewish, Lutheran and other Christian entities, one of which startled a parade watcher, who asked a friend whether or not 'the Catholics could do that.'

I also do not remember a Jewish presence in earlier parades.

[UPDATE for clarity: The Jewish faith is not a Christian faith, although the Christian faith was once a part of the Jewish. Apology. Very early in the morning after.]

Readers should note many signs are turned from the camera and the parishes they represented could not be ascertained. With ninety-six congregations in the Diocese (some sources say one hundred and nine), it may be presumed that some parishes still hold themselves separate from gay rights in the Diocese.

I watched a brief-clad dancer on a float mimicking sexual activity by pretending to pull his briefs up and down (and all but did) while gyrating suggestively. When I turned the camera to him, however, he stopped. (This is not the same individual as those pictured in the other post.)

Because this is a blog that is centered in Jesus Christ, Redeemer, Son of the Living God, I might remind that God loves, but His love is not license. His love seeks to set us free from what is coming down the tube.

The parade has been, as is said, toned down over the years. But a great deal remains that gives clear evidence of the critical mistake made when the love of God is linked with a parade (if I may) of sexual license and more.
